Day 152 | Limestone Gorge again, Gregory NP: the best campground in the park is deserted so I stay another night

rest day

The old decimal currency jingle kept running through my head today.

Although it is decades ago that NZ changed over from pounds, shillings and pence. I was a ‘Dollar Scholar’, the only one in my class who got 10 out of 10 for the conversion test but you only needed to get 7/10 to get the certificate.

I was about the only one in the class who didn’t have a few shillings to get changed into the shiny new coins when the teacher let us out to run over the corner store in Nile Street.

Unfortunately that early financial acumen didn’t last.

It turns out I was an early peaker, aged 8, it’s been all downhill concerning dosh since then.
