Day 325 | First Up Bore: the neighbours, cows, are a little rowdy

78 km | zzOz total: 8140 km

Just another section of the Plenty Highway. See, it’s not so bad.

Sometimes drivers ask a curious question, maybe they don’t think of the consequences: need anything?

My response tends to the absurd: a hug from me mom; a nice cuppa and a scone; and today, a strange response, given I’m almost a vegetarian, a corned beef sandwich on crusty bread with mustard.

The Caltex diesel delivery guy was completely unfazed, insisting I should take his ham roll, with mustard, straight from his fridge, only made yesterday, he’d already had one and shouldn’t really have another.

With an argument like that I accepted graciously and biked 100 m down the highway to the tree I’d had in my sights for a lunch stop. Still cold from the fridge, how good is that?

I even had an orange left from the shop yesterday.

Later the Telstra (phone) guy who sped past one way stopped on his return and whipped out a cold can of ultra sweet Lift and raced off. I found it did do as promised, it was about 4 pm and I was feeling flat so that powered me on to the nights lodging.

I do always initially refuse, after all I’m pretty self contained food wise, but resistance is easily broken.

Only one yellow faced whip snake today, but 1000 grey parrots with the long tails of the Cockatiel variety.
