Day 516 | Burra: the prettiest little town in South Australia

rest day

Burra.

It’s a legacy from a copper rush in 1847, many of the town’s buildings date from then, almost all the structures around the town centre are pre-1900 constructed from the local tan stone and while it is close to Adelaide, wow, only 150km, Burra doesn’t seem to be dominated by its proximity. There’s 4 operational pubs for the population of 800 which seems excessive for your average non-drinking tourist but somehow they survive.

I reckon it’s a terrific spot to perch for 4 days while I attempt to crack out a website I’ve been asked to do, hence my lack of movement in the interim. The caravan park just happens to have an undercover picnic table that has a power outlet within easy reach of my power cord, has to be the cleanest park I’ve ever come across, for once I’ve got that combination of electricity, mobile broadband coverage and time.

It’s been interesting to dust off the HTML and CSS but I have to admit it’s been a major brain strain.
