Day 371 | Wonga Beach: just sorta nestled in by the beach

51 km | zzOz total: 10,129 km

4 guys from Brisy are at the road side rest area, taking a break from all that driving.

The plan is to take their hot 4WD to Cape York, round to Darwin, fly to the Philippines for 2 weeks for some time with some ladies, doesn’t look as if they have much to offer to local gals, back to Darwin, then down to Alice Springs and somehow back to Brisy.

One asked me where I came from.

Port Douglas, I don’t mention that you can actually see houses on Flagstaff Hill through the vegetation.

But we haven’t passed it yet. Never saw it.

I ask them if they saw the Mossman Gorge, that’s one of the big tourist attractions around here, a pristine tropical mountain river with rounded granite boulders and beautiful coarse granite sand. I spent a couple of hours there this morning but don’t reveal that.

No, but they took a photo of the sign. Err, much laughter.

There’s all sorts out here on the road. I guess I’ll be meeting more of the gung-ho, don’t-ask-me-why-I’m-doing-this-because-I’ve-got-no-idea types as I head north.
