Day 414 | Wenlock River: actually right next to the water

57 km | zzOz total: 12,041 km

This voyage may appear as a severe dose of procrastination but I’m sure I’m getting the balance right. It’s fascinating country right here, something that is not immediately obvious for much of my travels.

Yesterday afternoon, slothing around the crossing I kind of worked out how far it is to Adelaide and think if I travel consistently I should be there in the first week of November. Well, that’s if I don’t have too many flights of fancy, improvised excursions, other than the major dash back to near the NT border to look at Lawn Hill National Park. That gives another couple of months to tootle around Adelaide and scoot up the Murray River before finally ending this ridiculous itinerary in Melbourne just after the New Year.

I feel I will have probably have seen sufficient of Australia at that stage although I guess I will find out if you can suffer an overdose of a good thing.

If I hadn’t stayed on the Pascoe last night, however, I wouldn’t have had a visit from 3 more Palm Cockatoos who sat about in a nearby tree this morning gossiping among themselves.

I had a fabbo view of one, it reminded me of my ancient grandmother, born in the nineteenth century, dressed head to toe in black, with an abundance of rouge on her cheeks and while often hatted I’m sure she wouldn’t wear a head adornment of such ostentation. Them parrots are mighty fine.

As they say: beautiful plumage.
