Day 28 | Unnamed lake near Lake Pingrup: 10 km past the locality Pingrup, if you were wondering

88 km | zzOz total: 1,405 km

Morning fog, dampening tent and enthusiasm.

I waited until 9, well mucked around basically until it lifted. (That might sound like total procrastination but sunrise is around 7 30am so it wasn’t that much of a delay.)

There’s usually a few other distractions to slow progress, a passing shower, lunchtime, a photo to take, etc.

Spent time out there in the middle of nowhere chatting to a stray bloke who stopped his car in the middle of the road to talk bikes. It’s true bike riders can be a rather obsessive type. Despite the travel I do get to have at least one decent conversation a day with someone, somewhere.

It was after lunch and I was still climbing, that’s the last 3 days since leaving Albany that have generally been on the upwards trajectory but then a short, 2km, downhill and it was into a string of saltwater lakes that will continue for most of tomorrow as well. Looks as if it’s finally flattening out.

About time.

Big wheat country, the paddocks are enormous, the wheat seeds seemingly planted straight into the sand, but it all looks green enough.

Should make better progress out of those hills.
