Day 120 | Tjukayirla Roadhouse: well, across the road to save $20

26 km | zzOz total: 6,024 km

$20 to put up a tent in a dusty enclosure, power generator humming nearby and have access to some facilities I don’t really need to use.

I camped across the road, 800 m away, in a quiet, dusty, unenclosed space.

The roadhouse had a free traveller’s outdoor shower, that was refreshing, hot water not really required at current temperatures, I had a shave, rinsed out my shirts and riding shorts, and cleaned out the water bottles which were starting to turn distinctly green.

As good as new.

OK, I missed out on a swim in the pool but my skin is scaly enough to be thought reptilian without being immersed in a chlorine bath.

Instead I sat on the verandah and ate $20 worth of grub, that was great.

Gotta spend the night here to fill up with water tomorrow morning for the next leg, 260 km to Warburton.

At last there’ll be some km ticked off.

(Car count: 11 + 45 in the Tjukayirla carpark; camels, 6.)
