Day 17 | Glenarty Road, past Augusta: Stage One knocked off after 17 days

76 km | zzOz total: 786 km

Yeah, Stage One of this little adventure is finished.

Perth to Cape Leeuwin direct is 330km. It’s taken me 17 days and I’ve managed to traverse more than twice that distance, 760km. It hasn’t always been the most obvious route, to others.

Case in point, this morning, out on the national park campsite on Point Road, a 4WD track, I decide to peal off and go up Georgette Road, no 4WD has been on this in a long while, it’s verging on being overgrown.

And the first hour gets me 6.5km, courtesy of a big first up push. Too steep/soft to ride in my road tyres.

There’s a huge payoff though. This is fabulous through the Karri forests and there’s a great feeling of just having a little adventure.

The rain has stopped, mostly, it’s just after sunrise, apparently, and I’m trucking along some remote track in the heart of Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park.
