Munda Biddi Roller Coaster | the second, shortish, ebook

Wow. What a blast. The Munda Biddi is one huge, fun, ride, with plenty of sweat, toil, and hardship thrown in.

Just to set the scene, the Munda Biddi Trail is a mountain bike trail that starts 35 km northeast of Perth and at the time headed south for 497 km, as far as the small town Nannup. Yes, it’s a roller coaster and cuts through some surprisingly uninhabited territory, considering the proximity to the 1.6 m population of Perth. Now it stretches the full 1000 km through to Albany down on the south coast.

No traffic. Big jarrah tree forest. Free accommodation. Big water tanks. Not many, often make that no, others on the track.

Nice.

Another Little Adventure.

Back home a week | whadda ya reckon?

Wow. The Munda Biddi is a blast.

Long stretches, kilometres, of massive fun screaming down obscure single track.

It’s not so easy to find a trail, feeling remote, isolated, bulk single track, most days, for a week or more, great, free, purpose-built accommodation along the way, the opportunity to replenish supplies every three days, plenty of signage, mostly, detailed maps complete with topography sections, no traffic, no people, one end within 35 km of a major population centre.

This is a digestible Little Adventure where after your day’s effort, maybe at 8 km an hour with a little walking the bike, you flop onto your sleeping bag still buzzing, if totally exhausted.

And even the last two days trundling up the coastal highway wasn’t, quite, the ordeal it might have been. You can always count on those afternoon sea “breezes”, ie, gales, to give you a helping shove along.

Despite the familiarity of the terrain this was no re-run of my previous expedition in any significant way. The temperature was at the other end of the scale, hot not cool, my view pointing in the opposite direction enough to me see the whole experience anew.

Yeah, I can go on a bit, I had a great time, it’s remarkable how quickly you forget those sweaty times hauling that overloaded bike and trailer up the next hill.

People of Perth, or anywhere else for that matter, get out there.

You might just have the Little Adventure of your life.
