Day 318 | Bluff campsite, Trephina Gorge: finally on my way

77 km | zzOz total: 7786km

Trepidation.

Two main reasons.

Is what I’ve done to the bike wheels going to be enough to ensure I have my usual sail-along-regardless life?

The suspect rear wheel, now with regulation rim tape rather than not much more than Sellotape, and the valve hole slightly countersunk, not the ragged, if not serrated, edge, has some difference: I made it to my proposed destination, albeit just before darkness fell.

The second reason for nervousness, nervousity even, was the lack of much transition between being in civilisation and whammo, being remote. One day I’m drinking coffee in downtown Alice, Woolworths supermarket not so far, the next I’m out, well, where am I, out in the sticks, wondering where the next water is. It’s an abrupt change as I’ve had.

Maybe I should be worrying about something more real: jeez, do I really have all that food aboard, without doubt I’m an over achiever in that department.
