food - it's an issue

Finding water has to be the biggest issue out in arid country, right?

Nah, it’s food.

Food?

Yup, food.

The country stores along outback roads are few and far between. They can be patchy with what they stock.

Vinegar or bleach? Sure.

Muesli or coffee? Well, the supply truck comes in next Thursday.

There’s not many locals who shop, well, locally.

The stations can send someone 9 hours driving each way to load up the 4WD with $1000s of groceries. Or, they fly the supplies in.

Tourists travel quickly and stock up with weeks of supplies from supermarkets in big towns.

On a bike you have to carry plenty of food with you. Or post it to yourself down the track.

Yeah, food is a real issue.
